Artist Turns Snow Storm Into Digital Artwork

Using digital projectors in the name of art is not unheard of. A few weeks ago a major snow storm hit North East USA causing over 30 inches of snow to accumulate in some areas. While being stuck in his house, Brian Maffitt decided to turn the storm into a work of art. By pointing a digital projector out of the window, the artist then used their Canon EOS 7D video camera to capture the results. While the name of the projector used wasn’t mentioned, Maffitt did say that he used the movie The Lorax to capture the video above.

  1. Brian Maffitt Says:

The projector was an old Optoma HD70 single-chip DLP, which explains the cool rainbow artifacts when the snow was moving swiftly. The video source was an Apple TV plugged in via HDMI.
