Philips PPX-2480 Projector Review

One of the latest pico projectors from Philips is the PPX-2480. This tiny device features 80 ANSI lumens, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and a WVGA (854 x 480) resolution. Today, Digital Verse released their review of the PPX-2480. One of the highlights about the device is the built-in media player that is capable of supporting a variety of file formats. They also liked the projector’s wireless capabilities like the 2GB build in memory, and SD card slot. They would have liked to see an included HDMI port, but that was the least of their complaints. They also thought that the projector was noisy and that the image quality suffered from low contrast and saturated colors. But in the end, the writers stated, “The Philips PicoPix PPX2480 doesn’t bring anything new to the pico-projector market. Image quality still suffers from the main flaws typically seen in this kind of product—i.e. 854 x 480-pixel resolution, poor color fidelity, low contrast, insufficient brightness, no HDMI connector, etc. Although it stands out from other pico-projectors thanks to its good-quality built-in media player, it still has a long way to go to catch up with full-sized video projectors.”
