Sony VPL-VW1000ES Projector Review

One of the many impressive projectors to come from Sony recently is the VPL-VW1000ES. This device comes with 2000 ANSI lumens, a 1000000:1 contrast ratio, and 4K HD (4096 x 2160) resolution. Recently, the writers from HDTV Test got to review this projector to see what it is capable of. The first thing they mention is that the projector is one of Sony’s high-end models and naturally that means a high retail price. But it is well worth the price with its 4K HD resolution. This is not to be confused with the lesser UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution that is becoming popular this year. The writers were pleased with how the projector handled and noted that the menu was fairly easy to maneuver through. The projector overall did not disappoint the writers and they were very pleased with its performance. The only major exception was with how it handled motion. The writers thought that the motion performance was behind the times when compared to other high-end projectors. The last comment the writers made was, “If you’re in the market specifically for a 4K projector, then Sony’s VPL-VW1000ES is one of your only choices at the moment. However, for the asking price, you could buy two or more excellent 1080p projectors. With that in mind, the Sony VPL-VW1000ES has to at least be an outstandingly good “normal” projector, 4K or not.”
