Microsoft Releases Multi-User Pico Projection Patent

Today it was revealed that Microsoft obtained a new patent called, “Combined Surface User Interface.” This design details plans that would allow two mobile devices with integrated pico projectors to display one complete image together. Essentially it is a scaled down version of what large venues do when they use multiple projectors to display one extra large image. A representative from Microsoft stated, “The mobile device can interconnect and collaborate with one or more neighboring mobile devices to stitch their projection areas and to thereby create a combined seamless user interface that utilizes the combined projection areas of the mobile device and its neighboring devices. Users of the multiple mobile devices can interact with each other on the combined seamless user interface.” This patent comes out only a few weeks after Apple released a similar patent.
