SMART is one of the leading companies that provide interactive whiteboard to schools and other educational facilities. Today, the company announced the beginning of their new SMART business solutions. The new collection of products includes new interactive whiteboards, hardware, software, and many other products. One of the new products is the SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard System, which is a whiteboard that has a short-throw projector built directly into the board. This is a big improvement from older designs that required the projector to be mounted on the ceiling or placed on a desk. The new system not only reduces shadows, but also keeps the light out of the teacher’s eyes. Also, the system provides a degree of mobility that previous systems did not have. “We are using this technology to transform the way the company works. Originally we started off as a small pilot at Adastral Park”, says Alan Bateman, director of next generation engineering at British Telecomm. “It’s been so successful that we have now decided to deploy it across five global sites around the world, with the smaller sites collaborating using SMART’s business technology between each site. It is saving us a lot of money and we are able to have the teams collaborating in real time together – it has been very successful.” There is no information yet on when the new systems will be available or how much they will retail for.
