The Nikon CoolPix S1000pj camera projector is one of the more interesting gadgets on the consumer market. The device is a typical point-and-click digital camera that has an integrated pico projector that can display VGA (640 x 480) resolution, 10 ANSI lumens, and images up to 40” diagonally. Recently, a writer from Trusted Reviews got to release a video review of the S1000pj. In terms of the camera, the writers highlight that this model is very similar to other Nikon CoolPix cameras that have been released. The camera comes with a 5.1x digital zoom, 12.1 megapixels, and a wide angle zoom lens. The writer was skeptical about the projector portion, which is a common theme with this device. One of the biggest fears about using the pico projector is that it requires dark rooms in order to be useful. However the writer was pleased to see that the S1000pj is capable of displaying images in normally lit rooms. The only physical problem that the writer had with projector is the slid focus on top of the device. The projector is also priced a lot higher than other cameras that match its image quality. However in the end the writer stated, “The CoolPix S1000pj is a gadget lover’s dream, and is sure to draw an admiring crowd, at least until the next cool toy comes along. Build quality and design are up to Nikon’s usual high standard, and the projector technology certainly works well enough, but annoyingly it is let down by mediocre camera performance. Considering the cost, only the gadget lovers are going to buy it.”
