Pranav Mistry Goes in Depth About Sixth Sense System

sixsense_a1

Pranav Mistry is the creator and developer of the Sixth Sense system, which is a portable projector and camera that fits around your neck and helps bring the digital world to your everyday life. Recently, Mistry had a demonstration and conference displaying his creation and he talks about the steps that it took to build the Sixth Sense. The system is essentially Mistry’s way to try to merge the digital realm and the real world together in a way that will allow users to access unlimited information. The system is completely controlled by the user’s fingers, by making simple guestures that could be learned at a young age, a user could simple put his fingers in the form of a frame, and the system would take a digital picture. The user could then later go to a wall and see his pictures and even send them to online websites or to friends and families through email. Another example Mistry gives is the ability to be able to pinch information from books, papers, or other physical objects and have them digitized instantly. In the example he showed that he was making a presentation paper and was able to pinch text from a book and a graph from a paper and combine them into one document. He could then tell the system to print the new document out on a nearby printer. The use of the projector and camera to allow users to freely change between the digital world and reality is truly amazing. And what is even better is that Mistry announced that he will be publicly releasing his software to the world next month so that anyone can design their own Sixth Sense system and alter it to fit their needs.
