Epson is proud to announce today that they have developed the world’s first 4K compatible high-temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT liquid crystal panel for 3LCD projectors. The display chip measures only 1.64 inches diagonally and is capable of displaying 4K HD (4096 x 2160) resolution. Because the resolution is nearly 4 times the size of standard HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, this chip will be used for large venue projectors initially but then plan to branch into classrooms, auditoriums, and other business applications. Epson will be demonstrating their new chip next week at the International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition in Chiba, Japan. The chip will be used to display both 2D and 3D content for viewers.
