Lightspeed Design Releases DepthQ Polarization Modulator

Lightspeed Design is one of the world’s premiere designers of stereoscopic 3D presentations, projection, and image-processing software technologies and has been a leader in stereoscopic 3D for over 16 years. Today, they are proud to announce the release of their newest projector accessory, the DepthQ Polarization Modulator. This device fits over any existing DepthQ projector with out extra installations. The lens polarizes the images before they get displayed on the screen in order to create the 3D effect. The polarization process is when each image is designed to be polarized either horizontally or vertically, depending on which eye the frame is intended for. The glasses that the user wears are also polarized, one eye is vertically, and the other is horizontally polarized. This allows each eye to see only the images that match the intended lens, allowing each eye to see a separate set of images, which tells the brain to create the 3D illusion. Polarization is a lot easier for the viewer and doesn’t require power operated shutter lenses. Chris Ward, President of Lightspeed, said, “Until now, single lens 3D solutions with passive eyewear have been cost-prohibitive for all but major Digital Cinemas and the biggest theme park attractions. The DepthQ(R) Polarization Modulator, packaged with either the DepthQ(R) HD 3D Projector, Christie(R) Mirage or other comparable 3D projectors, allows Lightspeed to provide high-quality, professional, flexibly priced, single lens HD 3D for large or small theatrical eCinema installations, 4D attractions, dark rides, museums, simulators, scientific & industrial visualization and academic institutions. We are currently in development of a larger modulator to accommodate upwards of 12,000 ANSI Lumens for even wider screen images.”
