Barco and Doremi Develop Integrated Media Block


Barco is a global technology company that designs and develops visualization products for a variety of selected professional markets. Today, the company announced that they have teamed up with server technology leader Doremi Cinema in order to release the industry’s first Integrated Media Block (IMB). The device is designed for Barco’s Series II projectors that have a 4K (4096 x 2160) or a 2K (2048 x 1080) resolution. The IMB will be integrated into over 3000 digital projectors that are expected to be used Cinemark theaters through out the US. “We are thrilled to continue our technical development and partnership with Barco, and to offer the digital cinema industry the first-ever 2K and 4K solution with an integrated media block” said Michael Archer, Vice President of Digital Cinema at Doremi. “In addition to providing the highest level of content security, our IMB product offers a future-proof configuration, based on the system’s ability to support both 2K and 4K resolutions.” To show what the IMB is capable of, Barco and Doremi will also be displaying the integrated media block at ShowEast in Orlando Florida, October 26th through October 29th, at booth #401.
