The Nikon CoolPix S1000pj is the first digital camera to feature a built-in projector. This past weekend, Nikon was displaying this device at the IFA conference. The projector is situated where the lens used to be. It can display images up to 40 inches, diagonally and is not much bigger than the other CoolPix digital cameras. The projector displays about 10 ANSI lumens and VGA (640 x 480) resolution. The camera is the same as any other CoolPix camera and comes with a wide variety of adjustment features and convenience features. The camera can also record video and play it back through the projector with sound due to a built-in speaker. The S1000pj is expected to be released sometime this month for about $429.
