BenQ is a leading provider of networked digital lifestyle devices. Today, the company announced six new projectors that will be released in the UK and through out Europe. All of these projectors feature the latest in DLP display technology and can be used for either home theater or business purposes.

The first two are the MP626 and MP670 projectors. Both models feature XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and a 3000:1 contrast ratio the only difference is that the MP626 comes with 2500 ANSI lumens while the MP670 can display 3000 ANSI lumens. Both projectors come with dual RGB ports as well as a HDMI, composite, and a s-video connection.

The next two are the MP776 and MP777 projector. Both of these models share the XGA (1024 x 768) resolution as the previously mentioned projectors. They also come with a 2600:1 contrast ratio and the MP776 has 3500 ANSI lumens while the MP777 has 4000 ANSI lumens. These projectors are more than capable of displaying in brightly lit rooms. These models also have the added bonus of an Ethernet LAN connection for network capabilities.

Digital Projection has teamed up with Mechdyne Corporation, the world’s largest immersive visualization solutions company, to develop the Total 3D Experience System. This system uses a Digital Projection TITAN or LIGHTNING 1080p projector along with a laundry list of digital equipment like a Blu-ray player, dimension server, a graphics adapter, 3D glasses, and a preprogrammed iPod Touch, which acts as the remote control for the entire system. The heart of this system is the Mechdyne Dimension 3D server, which can be used for any 3D content including movies, 3D gaming, and even 3D websites. The user does have the option of switching the system between 2D and 3D displays. Mechdyne plans to release the Total 3D Experience System sometime in November this year. However, the retail price has not been announced.

3M MPro120 Projector Review

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

MPro120_a1

Since its release, the 3M MPro120 projector has received nothing but praise. This projector displays VGA (640 x 480) resolution, 12 ANSI lumens, and a 200:1 contrast ratio. Recently, Crunch Gear got to test the projector and release their review. One of the major additions to the MPro120 is two speakers. While these speakers are tinny and have no bass, the writer was happy to have them instead of needing to carry external audio speakers where ever you go. One of the best qualities of this pico projector is the extra long battery life that 3M states can last at least 4 hours. However, if the settings are turned to high, the writers clocked the battery at only 3.5 hours. The writers were also happy to see that 3M includes a mini flexi tripod with the projector. The final comment that the writer made was, “Having a projector with you sounds pretty cool, but the truth is it’s pretty rare that you actually need one on the run. Combine that with its poor performance in anything but the darkest of situations, and you have a pretty limited tool. That said, within its narrow set of parameters, this is a great little device. The downside is its cost: at $350, it’s a whole bill more than its closest competitor.”

Supercines is the largest and most modern cinema chain in Ecuador. This model features 3-chip DLP display technology a 2100:1 contrast ratio, 30000 ANSI lumens, and a 2K HD (2048 x 1080) resolution. The cinema selected Christie due to their excellent past history together as well Christie’s exceptional technical support. “We installed two Christie CP2000-SB digital cinema projectors with Christie Brilliant3D triple-flash technology, providing full 2K resolution for 3-D, the most light output, and maximum lamp efficiency,” said Guillermo Younger, president of Cinema Equipment and Supplies. “We plan to install another CP2000-SB projector for that multiplex in the next few months. All the digital projectors in the Supercines chain are Christie. Along with Dolby 3D servers, QSC amps and speakers, and Christie CDXL and CXL lamps, they project the best picture possible on the screen. Supercines plans to install a total of 19 Christie CP2000-SB digital projectors and Dolby 3D by the end of the year.”

Vivitek H1080FD Projector Review

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

H1080FD_a2

The Vivitek H1080FD projector is one of the company’s latest home theater projectors. This model features 1800 ANSI lumens, a 5000:1 contrast ratio, and full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Recently, the writers from Trusted Reviews got their hands on the H1080FD projector to write their review of this model. The first thing that the writers noticed was the amazing price difference between this projector and another recently released home theater projector, the H9080FD. The H9080FD retails for around $11000, while the H1080FD is only priced at £849 ($1360). This price range gap got the writers to wonder what makes these two projectors so different. Well for starters the chassis for the H1080FD doesn’t look nearly as classy as its counterpart and has a plasticy feel that most high-end users usually stay away from. The writers were very happy to see that the H1080FD come with so many connection options including dual HDMI ports, RGB, composite, component, and an s-video port. After a quick setup the writers did note that they liked the colors and contrast of the image. What they didn’t like were some of the preset features like the normal and bright modes. Fortunately though, the projector does offer three user modes for customized settings to be saved. One of the biggest problems that the writers had with the H1080FD was the dreaded rainbow effect. This effect is typical with DLP projectors but the effect was bad enough to highlight in the review. The effect was noticeable fairly often and even over very bright parts of the image. The final verdict that the writers made was, “Although there are clear signs of the H1080FD’s budget nature in its build quality and some aspects of its performance, it still does plenty well enough to warrant at least an audition if you’re in the market for a startlingly cheap ‘part-time’ projector.”

Microvision Releases SHOW WX Projector

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

wx_a1

Microvision has been teasing the projector industry for months about their SHOW WX pico projector. Today, the company has finally announced that this miniature device is finally available. This projector is one of the first models to features laser display technology and it is capable of displaying 10 ANSI lumens, a WVGA (848 x 480) resolution, and an impressive 5000:1 contrast ratio. The laser display technology uses three different lasers; one red, one green, and one blue. By combining the lasers through the display panel the projector is able to produce a more vibrant and clear picture than the conventional LED lamp system. The best feature about the laser display technology is that it never needs focusing, which means you can display the picture on any wall, ceiling, or floor and always have the same amazing picture. Also because the display technology is smaller than LED systems, the projector is only half an inch thick and can fit anywhere a cell phone can. Microvision is retailing the SHOW WX projector for $499.

The LP-XM150 and LP-XM100 both features 3LCD display technology, XGA (1024 x 768) resolution, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 6500 UB Projector Review

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

plhc6500ub_a1

The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 6500 UB projector is one of the company’s best home theater models. This projector features 1600 ANSI lumens, a 75000:1 contrast ratio, and full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Today, Crunch Gear released their review of the projector after a few weeks of enjoying what it has to offer. The writers were amazed with the quality and power the 6500 UB has to offer. They also enjoyed the dual HDMI ports, composite, component, s-video, and VGA inputs that came with the connection panel. The writer thought that yes this is by far an incredibly powerful home theater projector, but they also thought that maybe it was too much. They first started by stating that the projector was too big and had difficulty finding a proper place for the projector during the review. They also thought that the 1600 ANSI lumen brightness was probably intended for larger home theater and was really suitable for smaller theaters. Another thing that the writer complained about was that there was no internal speaker system. This means that if you want to listen to audio then you will need to buy a separate speaker system. But Epson designed this projector for high-end home theater, which means their usually already is an audio system in place. The bottom line that the writer made was, “Overall, however, I’m totally down with a $3,000 1080p projector, especially with HDMI in. It’s cheap enough to look into as a TV replacement and it’s sharp enough to warrant a long look.”

DreamVision Dream’E Projector Review

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

dreame_a2

The DreamVision Dream’E projector is one of the company’s latest home theater models. It features 1200 ANSI lumens, a 15000:1 contrast ratio, and full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Recently, a writer from Electronic House got the opportunity to review the Dream’E projector. The writer seemed very content with the quick and easy setup. The projector was able to be adjusted easily and only required some minor tweaking in order to get the desired display. The projector was more than capable of displaying colors and it was apparent in the movie and sports tests that the writer used. The black levels were also a big plus and could be seen when looking at the Bruins’ uniforms. The writer was so happy about the Dream’E that they didn’t feel the need to list any major complaints about it. Their final thought was, “Its performance was so good, in fact, that my wife and kids wouldn’t allow it to leave the house. My family sees a lot of products enter the house and the Dream’E was the first one to elicit this type of response. I ended up buying the projector and, with its built-in upgrade path, I look forward to stepping up into its anamorphic options someday.”
