Opus Microsystems is a Taiwanese MEMS design company. Recently, they announced their plan to release a new pico projector that will feature 10 ANSI lumens, VGA (640 x 480) resolution, and a laser display system. The laser display system will be able to display better color and a more detailed and clear picture. The most beneficial aspect about laser projectors is that they do not require a focus lens. The display can be put onto any surface and display a perfect image at all times. To create the image, three different colored lasers are used (red, green, and blue). The three lasers are combined into one white light laser, which is immediately separated when it passes through the display chip. Opus Microsystems has recently released a demo of their laser projector. The device is still in the prototype stages right now but the company plans to release it before the end of 2009.
