Ever wanted a full immersive area that you could truly enjoy? Well today a company named TOOB has released their personal immersive omni-directional screen they call T.O.O.B (Thinking Out Of the Box). This screen is a half dome and constructed from hard plastic, with a screen in lay. Instead of using a rear projection system like the very similar jDome, the screen has a small hole at the bottom that the projector projects through. The image is then bounced off of a mirror and on to the screen. The mirror also provides a stereo speaker system. The more interesting part is that this half dome is only retailing for $1440, which is less than half of the $3000 that the jDome asks for, which makes sense. In addition to the home version, TOOB is has a much larger version available as well that is inflatable and measures 8 foot high by 16 foot wide. Both versions are available now for purchase or to rent as well as a compatible Mitsubishi HC1500 projector, which features 1600 ANSI lumens, HD (1280 x 720) resolution, and a 2500:1 contrast ratio.
