NEC Develops Cell Phone Remote Control for Projectors

One of the more popular concept ideas is using a cell phone to control your home electronics just like a universal remote. Recently, NEC announced that they have developed a phone that can do just that. The device is still under development, but for right now, the phone needs to connect to the projectors with a USB Cable and then the phone can instantly stream videos, photos, and also music to the projector. The phone is only compatible with the NP62 and NP52 right now, both projectors featuring XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and a 1600:1 contrast ratio. In addition to instant access to the phone’s files, the connection will be similar to a wired remote and allow the user to control certain features in the menu. There is no word yet when this development will be available. More information will be released as it becomes available.
