Avatar Movie Expected to Redefine 3D Technology
The film industry has seen great success with the making of 3D movies. Director James Cameron is planning to use the 3D technology to create a story that combines both live action and CG images together. The most anticipated movie to come is Avatar and it is about, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran who is brought to another planet that is inhabited by a blue-skinned humanoid race. The two races quickly find themselves at war with each other. Avatar is the first 3D movie to feature both live action and CG images. Cameron thinks of his movie as being a revolution of 3D technology. Critics also believe that those who see the movie will never think of 3D cinema the same way again. The 3D image is what many call an “illusion of depth.” The image is not really 3D, but actually a trick that is played on an individual’s perception. The image is projected onto a screen using two projectors, or one projector displaying two images simultaneously. Each image is designed to only be detected by a specific eye. For example, one image is for the right eye and the second image is for the left eye. By using specialized 3D glasses, the images are separated so that each eye can only see their respective images. The brain sees both images and interprets that information into a 3D image. Tomorrow Cameran will be releasing the sneak preview of Avatar at select theaters.
