A few months you may have read about the first ever life sized human hologram that was designed for an Audi dealership in Australia. Today, Epson and 3M have teamed up to reveal their latest development, the virtual spokes model. This device is has the silhouette of a young woman, but it is only 0.3mm (0.01 inches) thick. From the waist down the model looks like any other person, but the top half is a specialized screen that was designed by 3M. The screen is covered with 3M’s patented Vikuiti technology which is designed to enhance the projected image and increase the brightness. Epson uses a rear projection projector to display the top half of the spokes woman to complete the model. The main purpose of this virtual model is to entice customers and will mainly be used as advertising technology. Unfortunately, there is no information of whether this spokes woman can interact with her surroundings.
