13-Year-Old Receives Patent for Pen-Sized Projector

Ever heard the expression, “So easy a child could do it?” well apparently that is true when it comes to designing pico projectors because it was recently announced that 13-year-old David Baker recently received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for his Light Beam Delivery System design. This projection system uses a display system that is similar to the Microvision Show WX but is small enough to fit into a standard sized pen casing. The projector uses three colored lasers (one red, one green, and one blue) and combines them with an innovative optics assembly that creates a light ray. The light ray is then shined through a rotating disk to the screen. The laser light shines each pixel individually is it scans the image onto the screen. The projector repeats this scanning process 30 times a second, which creates a complete image that users can see. The 13 year old plans to continue his inventing and wants to someday grow up to invent new devices for either NASA or the military.
