Epson Announces DC-06 Digital Camera for Classroom Projectors

Today Epson has announced that they are releasing the DC-06 digital camera was designed specifically for the new PowerLite 85, 825, and 826W projectors. The DC-06 projector features a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and can take video and photos of a 10.7 x 14.3″ capture area. The camera is capable of capturing anything from text books, journals, models, to even 3D objects. One of the key features about this device is that is relatively small and light, which makes use in small classrooms ideal. “The new Epson DC-06 document camera provides teachers with the plug-and-play connectivity options they’ve been looking for,” said Heather Litus Johnston, product manager, Epson Projection, Epson America. “Through our relationships with educators, we’ve developed the DC-06 to meet the requirements they are looking for to make classroom learning more interactive, easy and fun at a price schools can afford.” In addition, Epson is offering the Brighter Futures program that allows schools to select what equipment is best for their school while providing the lowest cost. The DC-06 camera will be available in May, which is the same time the first of the new projectors are released. Unfortunately, the retail price is set at $399.

Epson DC-06 Document Camera Offers Plug ‘n Play USB Connection for Easy Projector or PC Connectivity

LONG BEACH, Calif. – March 23, 2009 – Epson America today introduced the Epson DC-06 document camera, designed to deliver flexibility, ease-of-use and affordability to today’s K-12 classroom. Offering an easy USB connection, the DC-06 ($399*) allows educators to connect to one of the new feature-rich Epson PowerLite® 85, 825 and 826W projectors or to a computer using included software for easy operation.

Featuring XGA resolution for detailed reproductions and a 10.7″x 14.3″ capture area, the DC-06 makes it easy for educators to share information from text books, journals, models, or even 3D objects. In addition, the document camera offers a compact design, making it ideal for smaller classrooms with limited space. The DC-06 is also lightweight, allowing teachers to easily move it between classrooms and share the benefits of its enhanced presentation capabilities.

The DC-06 offers several additional classroom-centric features, including a built-in LED light for displaying bright images in any setting, 4x digital zoom for incredible detail, a one-push auto focus button for ease of use, and 90 degree vertical and horizontal rotation capabilities of the lens and arm for capture flexibility. In addition, the DC-06 includes a 10 foot USB cable and soft carrying case for easy connectivity and mobility. The DC-06 also works with leading interactive whiteboards and their respective software applications in order to create videos and view, capture and edit images for later use.
