Prada Transformer Redefines “Using the Space”

The Prada Transformer is not your average building. Designed by Rem Koolhass and the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, this establishment comes with four different panels, including a hexagon, square, cross, and a round panel. These panels can be interchanged between one another allowing the structure to take different shapes and purposes. One of the modes is a “Cinema” mode, and uses the square section as bleachers while the circular section has a built in projector. The circular section also doubles as a performance stage when it is on the ground in “Special Event” mode. There is also a “Fashion” mode and an “Art Exhibition” mode. The entire structure is framed out of steel and covered in a “smooth elastic membrane.” Unfortunately, the Prada Transformer is situated in Seoul, Korea, where it will be used for concerts, fashion shows and other cultural events.
