NEC and Cineworld Install NC1600C and NC2500S Projectors in UK

Cineworld is one of the United Kingdom’s leading digital multiplex cinema chains. They have recently announced a partnership with NEC to install 3D projectors into 75 of their theaters nationwide. NEC has assisted with 3D display technology before with last years’ Journey to the center of the world that was presented in RealD 3D. NEC will be providing two different models to this project, the NC1600C and NC2500S. Both models feature the latest in DLP display technology as well as a 2048 x 1080 resolution that is much greater than 1080p HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The NC1600C features 17000 ANSI lumens and a 2200:1 contrast ratio. The NC2500S is a lot brighter with 23000 ANSI lumens, but only comes with a 2000:1 contrast ratio. “The decision to go for NEC technology was based on many factors. Ultimately our choice came down to quality, performance and service. The projectors will be in service for many years to come and so having total confidence in their reliability is critical and we definitely have this with NEC,” commented Steve Wiener, CEO of Cineworld Group PLC. Cineworld plans to have all 75 cinema’s installed and operational before the debut of Dreamwork’s Aliens vs. Monsters that will debut April 3rd.
