Julian’s Legacy Home Theater

Julian and Betsy were more than happy when the last of their kids left for college. The first thing they did was talk about what to convert the old play room into. While trying to decide, Julian got diagnosed with cancer. Betsy decided then to turn the play room in the home theater that Julian really wanted. With the help of several professionals and their two sons, the home theater became a family project. At one point, Julian became worse and was confined to a wheelchair. The designers to widen the door to the theater and make plenty of space for the chair to be rolled to the front row of the two row theater. Unfortunately, Julian passed away just weeks before the home theater was completed. Betsy and the rest of the family decided to finish the theater and call it Julian’s theater “If anything, the room is Julian’s legacy,” Betsy says. “Doing this was interesting, fun and new. Julian was passionate about baseball and sports. And this continues to be a place for us to gather. I’d have a very hard time moving out of the house, because that theater is a major pull.” The electronics in the room were based on suggestions given by their video game-loving son and features a 110 inch screen, a hidden surround sound system, and a Sim2 HT380 projector. The HT380 features full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a 5000:1 contrast ratio, and 900 ANSI lumens. The surround system was installed into the brick walls and covered with cloth panels to give the illusion that the room has no speaker system. The theater has two rows of seating with the front row having love seat recliners and the back having standard recliners.
