Vivitek Display Seven New Projectors at CES 09

This is Vivitek’s first year at CES and they have come with guns blazing. They have brought with them not one but seven brand new projectors. These new models have a variety of uses including home theater, meeting halls, classrooms, libraries, lecture halls, auditoriums, and travel. All of these projectors use the latest in DLP display technology, which is provided by Texas Instruments.
The biggest projector out of the group is the H608FD, which features full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 700 ANSI lumens and an amazing 100000:1 contrast ratio. It is also the only projector in the group to use LEDs for a light source. This not only makes the projector eco-friendly, but also provides a 20000 hour lamp life. Also LEDs produce very little heat, which requires less power to cool the machine. Unfortunately, this projector will not be available until June for the suggested retail price of $19999.
The other majorly projector in the group is also the smallest, the D832MX. This model is built to be portable, weighing only 5.7 lbs. The D832MX features XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and 3200 ANSI lumens. This projector was not only designed to be portable, but also meant to be both a home theater and a business projector. Vivitek says that this model is available for ordering and will retail for $999, making it the cheapest model in the group as well.
Next up is a pair of projectors, the D935VX and D940VX, because they are essentially identical. They both feature the same XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and can support 720 and 1080i HDTV signals. The only difference is that the D935VX displays 3000 ANSI lumens and retails for $1799, while the D940VX displays 4300 ANSI lumens and retails for $2199. Both models are now shipping
The D930TX shares the same XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and 3000 ANSI lumens as the D935VX, but it also has an incredible short throw distance. This D930TX is capable of displaying a 100 inch image, measured diagonally, from a distance of only 1.3 meters (4.3 feet) away. This short throw distance makes this projector ideal for classrooms and boardrooms where the presenter has to be in front of the screen a lot. This model will be available before the end of the first quarter this year, and will retail for $2199.
Shipping now for $1299 is the D735VX, which offers 3200 ANSI lumens, XGA (1024 x 768) resolution, and a 2400:1 contrast ratio. This model is also designed for classrooms and boardrooms and comes with a detachable control panel that doubles as a remote control. This feature is similar to some car radios that allow the driver to take the front panel in order to discourage thieves. The only problem is that if you take the control panel and then loose it, you’re stuck with a $1299 paper weight.
Lastly at the display is the D5500 that features 5500 ANSI lumens, XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. This model is built for the big rooms like large auditoriums, lecture halls, and houses of worship. The projector uses a dual lamp system that uses one lamp and when it burns out, the projector automatically switches to the other. You can also use both lamps together for an even brighter display, but your lamp life will be cut in half. The D5500 is currently available and retails for $5999.
