Luminus Devices Announce PT-39 LED Chipset for Pocket Projectors

With so many projectors now sporting LED light sources, you might wonder who is supplying them. Well that would be Luminus Devices with their incredibly small PhlatLight LEDs. Recently, Luminus Devices announced that they have developed their brightest LED chipset, the PT-39. The chipset uses individual red, green and blue LEDs that measure between 0.4 and 0.55 inches. The chipsets are designed to work in conjunction with the DLP display panels that are developed by Texas Instruments. The first projector to receive the PT-39 chipset will be the Acer K10 pocket projector. This projector is able to display 100 ANSI lumens, SVGA (800 x 600) resolution, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. LEDs have been growing in popularity over the standard halogen lamps because of their eco-friendly design that doesn’t use mercury, which is harmful to the environment and to people. Also, LEDs require less power to run and they produce less heat which reduces the power needed to keep the projector cool. Luminus Devices will be demoing their new chipset and the Acer K10 projector at CES this week in suite 4118 in the Las Vegas Hilton.
