Texas Instruments Displays DLP Pico Display Technology at CES 09

CES appears to be all about pocket projectors this year and we have Texas Instruments to thank for it. Their DLP display technology has been integrated already into the Optoma Pico projector that came out last year. This year it is being used in several new models including the Cinemin Swivel, Stick, and Station from WowWee, the recently announced Samsung MBP200, and the Toshiba TDP-F10U LED projector that was also recently announced. TI also has made put their display technology into the upcoming BenQ GP1 projector that comes with a USB input slot and will be available in March for $599. There is even talk about BUG Labs releasing a BUGprojector, which will feature 480 x 320 resolution, and 9 ANSI lumens. More information will be released about the BUGprojector and the GP1 models as it becomes available. In addition to all these projectors, TI has announced the development of a DLP Pico Projector Kit that will available to developers in order to integrate it into future electronics. The Pico Projector Kit will be able to display HVGA (640 x 240) resolution and use three color LEDs as a low power light source. The kit also includes a universal power supply and a HDMI to DVI cable to connect the projector to a Beagle Board for developing in a Linux environment. Most of the products mentioned can be seen this week at CES in Las Vegas.
