AMC Theaters Build 100 IMAX Theaters by 2010

IMAX theaters display some of the biggest and best displays ever seen in theaters. Until recently, you could only find these theaters in museums and other educational buildings. It has recently been announced that AMC theaters will be installing up to 100 IMAX theaters between now and 2010. 33 of these theaters will be installed into AMC theaters in the USA and the rest will be in parts of Canada. Typically IMAX theaters use a huge film projector and 70 mm film in order to give their amazing displays. With the recent development of digital projection technology, the IMAX theaters do not require the beefy equipment or film in order to display on the massive curved screen. AMC has also announced that the IMAX theaters being installed in their cinemas will also be about 25 percent larger than normal theater screens and will sport the same high quality sound system and curved screen to immerse the audience into the film. The new theaters will even be able to display 3D movies.
