The Top Ten Projectors of 2008
If you are looking for the best projector for the best price, then you need to look at this list of the top ten projectors of 2008, presented by Wow Rebates. They have compiled ten of the best projectors designed for everything including home theater, business, and portable use. The list ranges from big fixed projectors to small portable models and come from some of the leading manufacturers in the projector industry.
First on the list is the InFocus X6 ($429). This model features 2000 ANSI lumens, an 1800:1 contrast ratio, and a SVGA (800 x 600) resolution. The X6 utilizes the latest BrilliantColor technology to output true-to-life colors and shades through a wide, short throw lens, providing big image flexibility to smaller rooms.
Next is the Epson PowerLite S5 ($599), which features 2000 ANSI lumens, a 400:1 contrast ratio, and the same SVGA resolution as the X6. This projector is light weight (5.8 lbs), which makes it perfect for family vacations and other trips.
Another model is the EX530 ($679) from Optoma. This projector displays 2600 ANSI lumens, a 2500:1 contrast ratio, and a native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. The EX530 is not only portable but versatile with an optical zoom and vertical keystone adjustment.
The ViewSonic PJ559D ($1279) features 2700 ANSI lumens a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and a XGA resolution. This model is very similar to the Optoma model mentioned earlier. The PJ559D is designed for conference rooms and classrooms and comes with the WPG-150 Wireless G Presentation Gateway that provides wireless connectivity for your laptop.
The next projector on the list is another ViewSonic model, the PJ556D ($874). This model features the same 2000:1 contrast ratio and XGA resolution as the PJ559D, but comes with only 2000 ANSI lumens. The PJ556D is designed to be flexible with multiple inputs including RGB, composite, component, and s-video.
Passing the halfway point, we come to the NEC NP100 ($499) DLP projector. This model can display a native SVGA resolution, a 1200:1 contrast ratio, and 2000 ANSI lumens, which is good for a dimly lit room. The NP100 weighs 5.3 lbs, which makes it ideal for any traveling presenter.
Epson is back again on the list, this time with the PowerLite 77c ($649) projector that features XGA resolution, a measly 400:1 contrast ratio, and 2200 ANSI lumens. This model feature one of the fastest start up and shut down periods on the list, thanks to Epson’s Instant Off function. The 77c is also easy to use as is the standard for all Epson projectors.
Planar offers a little more powerful projector with their PR6022 ($999). This model comes with a native XGA resolution, 2500 ANSI lumens, and an 1800:1 contrast ratio. The PR6022 is also one of the lightest projectors in the list, weighing only 3.2 lbs. The projector comes with a remote control, all the necessary cables and a convenient carry case that fits everything nice and neat.
Another excellent portable projector is the Vivitek D732MX ($999) projector. This model comes with its own carrying handle that eliminates the need for a case. The projector features XGA resolution, a 2100:1 contrast ratio and 3200 ANSI lumens, which makes this model the brightest on the list.
Lastly on the list is the Sharp DT-510 ($2499). This is the only projector on the list to feature a native HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The 510 also displays a 4000:1 contrast ratio and 1000 ANSI lumens. In addition, this projector comes with an HDMI input as well as two component, two composite, an s-video, and a RGB connection.
