Mitsubishi Releases WD510U and WD500U-ST Projectors

Recently, Mitsubishi has announced the release of two new projectors, the WD510U and WD500U-ST. These projectors are almost identical, featuring WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio and the new DDP 2230 DMD DLP chip. The WD510U also features 2600 ANSI lumens and a 2000:1 contrast ratio, while the WD500U-ST features only 2100 ANSI lumens and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. The other major difference between the two models is the “ST,” which stands for “short throw.” The WD500U-ST is capable of displaying up to a 300 inch diagonal image, but it is capable of projecting a 60 inch image, diagonally, from a little over 2 feet away. This feature is useful because it prevents the bright light from getting into the eyes of the presenter and causing distractions. It even helps prevent distracting shadows when the presenter walks in front of the screen. Both projectors are currently available through the Mitsubishi website and come with a three year warranty as well as a one year warranty for the lamp. The suggested retail price for the WD510U is $1495, while the WD500U-ST will retail for $1695.
