Konica Minolta Announces Flash Drive Sized Projector

Konica Minolta has recently announced their newest product, a projector the size of a USB stick. This projector measures in at 0.8″ x 0.3″ x 1.6″ (W x H x D) and requires less than a watt of power, which is less than most projectors need during their standby mode. The projector uses three lasers, red, green, and blue to provide the light source for the display. This technology is similar to what can be found in the Microvision SHOW projector. Piozoelectric elements are used to vibrate micro mirrors that are used instead of a projection lens. The mirrors are able to be moved vertically and horizontally. The company claims that the projector is capable of displaying XGA (1024 x 768) resolution, and it can create images up to 20 inches diagonally from a distance of 23 inches. Konica Minolta estimates that this projector will take between two or three years before it will become available to the public.
