Dell M209X Projector Review

The Dell M209X is one of the smallest projectors on the consumer market today. This projector comes with 2000 ANSI lumens, an 1800:1 contrast ratio, and XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. Recently the writers at ZDNet had the opportunity to review this projector. The first thing the writers noticed was the sleek, glossy chassis. They were amazed with how small it was. However they did notice that the glossy black finish could be smudged easily, which lowers the professional look. The connections for the M209X include a VGA, HDMI, s-video, composite, and an audio connection. The projector also comes with a mini 1 watt speaker system. The writers noticed that even though the sound could be heard, it was difficult because the noise of the cooling fan drowned out the speaker. Another problem that the writers noticed was the on screen menu. The menu grouped screen adjustment features in separate submenus, which made it difficult to navigate through. The writers noticed that the picture was fairly decent. The brightness and whites were more than adequate, but the colors were dull and could not be fixed. The feature for the image was the contrast ratio. The writers mentioned that this feature was the best they have seen in a long time. The writers’ final verdict about the M209X was, “Inexpensive to maintain, a good unit as long as you don’t mind the dull colors.”
