Maxon Visimax Projector Review

The Maxon Visimax is one of the several pocket projectors to come from Australia. This model features 15 ANSI lumens, a 200:1 contrast ratio, and VGA (640 x 480) resolution. The Visimax also comes with an LED lamp source that is both long lasting, and eco-friendly. Maxon recently gave one of these projectors to Gizmodo to allow them to see first hand what it can do. One of the first things the writers mention is that the Visimax is not for everyone. The projector is designed mainly for business purposes and is well suited for Road Warriors who need to travel light. The writers also think that the Visimax would be good for anyone who has a caravan and can’t live without some form of digital entertainment. One good quality about the Visimax was that it came with all the cable you needed. The projector itself only has a PC/Video port, but it also comes with the adapters to connect your DVD player or laptop. The writers highlighted that the company was able to compensate for the problems the projector had. One good example was with the speaker system. The writers noticed that the speakers where not able to produce enough sound to fill a room, however, the company does offer external speakers that could be plugged into the headphone output. The only downside to this is that you have to spend more money if you want quality sound. The writers were impressed that the Visimax was able to displays images up to 50 inches diagonally. The only problem is that the room needs to be completely dark. This could be a problem if you need to look at papers or display anything like paper graphs, important documents, or other important props. The writers concluded by stating, “Even from reading the specs, we knew that this would never be the ideal home theater device, and it’s not. The colors appeared fairly washed out and the picture a bit grainy if you made the screen too large. But those weaknesses can be forgiven given the projector’s size and light weight. If you’re after a portable screen larger than your laptop, then this has your name written all over it”
