The Five Greatest Garage Home Theaters Ever

What do you do when you want to build a home theater but none of the rooms in your house are big enough? One good solution is to build the theater in the garage. Recently, Electronic House has released their five favorite garage theaters. Each of these designs turns the garage from a dusty dirty man zone into a comfortable clean place for the entire family.
The first theater on the list is not only in the garage, but under it. The owner didn’t want to have his 7000 watt surround sound system rattling the rest of the house, so he decided to dig 14 feet below the three car garage and turn that space into what he calls the “Bunker Theater.” Most of the audio equipment is behind the acoustically transparent 150 inch screen. The projector chosen for this theater was the Digital Projection dVision 1080p because it features HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a 6000:1 contrast ratio, and 2500 ANSI lumens.
Next on the list is the Rotating Theater. This theater completely decorated by LED lights that gives the room a space age feel. The customized 12 foot wide screen has the sound system built behind it for convenience. An InFocus ScreenPlay 777 projector was selected because it features 2000 ANSI lumens, HD (1280 x 720) resolution, and a 5000:1 contrast ratio. The main feature about this theater is the rotating floor. When not in use, most people would either roll up or cover their projector screen to keep it from being a distraction. The owner of the rotating theater designed the floor to turn 180 degrees so that the guests’ backs are toward the screen.
Next on the list was a very decorative theater that was all done by one person. Bjorn Kristensen designed and built his home theater on his own. The only help he had was from his wife who is a former electrician. She helped connect everything together including the Sony VPL-VW60 projector that displays full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 900 ANSI lumens, and a 35000:1 contrast ratio onto a 120 inch screen, diagonally. Kristensen researched his materials wisely and was able to construct this theater for only $20000. The bride and joy of this home made theater is the Infinity SW-12 Subwoofer that he decided to display between the two front row seats.
The most fantasy based home theater on this list is the Jedi Theater. This two level masterpiece is designed to look like you are in Chancellor Palpetines office as it overlooks the Glactive City, in “Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith.” The 103 inch screen, measured diagonally, displays excellent movies provided by the Marantz VPL-11S2 projector that is mounted in the back. This projector can display full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution as well as a 12000:1 contrast ratio and 800 ANSI lumens. This theater was designed to keep the movie inside the theater by using acoustical panels that absorb the sound. The panels are made to look like the city as soft wall panels are mounted in front of them, giving the illusion of windows.
The fifth garage theater on the list isn’t a normal home theater. It doesn’t have a big screen or a high quality projector but it is still impressive. The place allows the owners to work on their cars and have a space for relaxation, tinkering, and to watch sports on a 55 inch TV. The Garage Mahal is the racing fan’s dream come true with a live camera fixed outside the garage to record all the racing action and play it back inside the garage.
