Mitsubishi HC5500 Projector Review

The Mitsubishi HC5500 is newest home theater projector to come from Mitsubishi. It features full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 1200 ANSI lumens, and a 14000:1 contrast ratio. Recently the writer at Trusted Reviews got the chance to review the HC5500. The first thing they mentioned about the projector was how bland the design was. It didn’t stand out in any way, nor did it have a high quality paint job, like some of its leading competition. The writer was however impressed by the amount of input slots it had. The HC5500 included two HDMI, a RGB, composite, and an s-video connection. Another concern the writer had about the HC5500 was that the projector was designed with small rooms in mind. This is good because it is able to fit in rooms that its competitors can’t fit in, but it’s bad because the HC5500 doesn’t have a big optical zoom for bigger rooms. The highlight of the review was the black levels and the colors presented. The writer commented on how pleasing they looked and they were also very rich and natural looking. Overall, the writer was very impressed by the quality the HC5500 had to offer. His final verdict of the HC5500 was, “The HC5500 is the best Full HD LCD projector I’ve seen for under £1,500, making it a really tantalizing option to consider if you can’t quite run to the £1,500 (or more) asking price of Sony’s slightly better VPL-HW10, or you hate the rainbow effect issue with the InFocus IN80.”
