Mitusbishi HC6500 Projector Review

The Mitsubishi HC6500 is the middle child of a trio of home theater projectors that were recently released. The projector features 1200 ANSI lumens, a 15000:1 contrast ratio and full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. The HC6500 comes with an assortment of connections including composite, component, RGB, and two HDMI inputs. Recently the writers of The Art of Home Theater Projectors recently had the opportunity to test the HC6500. The writers spent a few weeks watching movies, sports and other video content on the projector and they found themselves content with the quality the projector displayed. One thing they did note was that they thought the black levels for this projector could have been better. “Black level performance may not match more expensive projectors, including their [Mitsubishi] own HC7000, but it crosses the threshold of being fully acceptable to most,” the author said. The brightness of the display was also a positive point for the HC6500. The author mentioned that at its optimal settings, the HC6500 was above average. The final verdict for the HC6500 was, “Very impressive. I’m most comfortable with the image quality, so only the value proposition is unknown, until I have a close look at the other projectors in the same price range. Bottom line, the HC6500 scores very well in terms of watchability from an image standpoint. Put it on your short list.”
