Christie Displays Brilliant3D Technology at ShowEast 08

Christie is one of the leading developers and manufacturers of large venue projectors. Recently they have announced a new technology that will be available exclusively on all Christie projectors. The Brilliant3D technology will allow projectors to be able to display 3D content in full 2K (2048 x 1080) resolution. The new technology utilizes 1.2″ DMD chips that were provided by Texas Instruments. This new development is a first for the projection industry because it is able to display 3D content from a single lens. Most 3D projection systems require two separate projectors to create the 3D images. Christie’s Entertainment Solutions vice-president Craig Sholder stated, “With more than 15 new movies slated for 3D release over the next 18 months, Christie’s new Brilliant3D will enable exhibitors to project 3D movies onto the largest screens–while reducing both lamp and electricity expenses. Christie engineers initiated development of this technology so that audiences would have the most compelling 3D experience.” The new technology will be on display at ShowEast 2008 this week in Orlando, FL.
