Helsinki Institute Announces 3D Interactive CityWall
CityWall is a giant multi-touch display that was originally used for maps and other service-oriented features. Recently the developers at Helsinki Institute for Information Technology have released a new 3D version of the interactive display. The new system uses 3D rendering, which isn’t actual 3D in the physical sense, but it does allow you to view files upside down and backwards. The system not only accepts multi-touch commands, but also accepts multiple users to interact with the display, simultaneously. The display shows groups of files together as spheres also known as ‘worlds’, which can be manipulated in every possible way. Users can even text the wall and have their texts displayed on the screen, or upload files onto Flickr and post them onto the display. The system is currently located in downtown Helsinki, Finland.
