Pioneer was one of the several companies displaying at the CEATEC trade show this year. Their newest device was their Floating Vision Technology. This device is has three parts to it: first is an LCD with built-in computer, then an assortment of 3D lenses, and finally the “space sensor”, or virtual screen. Users can interact with the 3D animations by putting their hand through the space sensor. The sensor can also determine the difference between a hand and other objects. In one of the videos, users could use their phone to catch falling objects on the screen, which would then appear on the phone with a coupon for that item. This distinction between objects is very similar to the technology used for the Microsoft Surface.
