Chancellor Palpetine’s Home Theater

Almost every Star Wars fan’s dream is to have a nice theater surrounded by their favorite Star Wars memorabilia. This was the dream for Steve Simon as he started to design his own home theater. He sectioned off a portion of his garage for the theater and hired Miami-based DreamSpace to install the electronics. To help make the theater soundproof, Simon hired CDGI (cinema Design Group International) to make the panels. Shortly after hiring CDGI, Simon found out that they could print images onto their panels with a dye sublimation printing process. This inspired Simon to redesign his theater to look like Chancellor Palpatine’s office as it overlooks the Imperial City from “Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith”. Simon’s theater now has a 103 inch theater screen, paired with a Marantz VP-11S2 DLP projector. It also has two levels of seating with built-in cup holders. The walls give the illusion that you are in a room overlooking the Imperial City as it looked in the movie. It is hard to believe that this theater is built in a garage.
