Do it Yourself 1080p HD Projector

diyhdprojector_a1.jpg

You may have read about how to create your own projector with an overhead projector and an LCD display panel. The guys at Revision3 have decided to take this concept a step further and create their own HD (1920 x 1080) resolution projector and document it for their online show “System”. To create this HD projector they started with a  DIY kit that could be purchased from LumenLab. This starter kit contained most of the parts needed to assemble their projector including a 400 watt 6500K bulb, a triplet lens, and a pair of Fresnel lenses. The show explains step by step how to build your box and how to assemble all the parts together. The LCD panels that they used for this projector was a 15.4 inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) panel that came complete with HDMI input and HDCP compatibility. All the parts for this DIY model costs about $600, which is a bargain for full HD resolution. However, the hosts strongly recommend that you do some reasearch before you rush off and build your own projector. They recommend studying the building plans and talk to other builders on the Lumenlab forums for additional information. Click on the link to view the episode.
