Everlight Electronics is the leading supplier of LED lights in Taiwan. Recently they have announced that starting this month, they will be supplying LED lights to several major manufacturers to be used in micro projectors. Everlight claims that micro projectors require better color saturation, which is what their LEDs will be able to provide. Everlight plans to make monthly shipments that will contain about 10000 units per shipment, but expects orders to grow as more micro projectors get released to the consumer market. With this huge surge of orders, Everlight tries to remain conservative pointing out the fact that LED lights typically can only produce about 1/6th the brightness that conventional projector lamps can provide. However even with this potential problem LEDs last longer, produce less heat, and are environmentally friendly, which is what makes them more popular for the smaller projectors.
