Three Major Types of Projector Screens

If you are searching for the right projection screen for your home theater, then you should know about the three main types of screens. All types of projection screens usually fit into one or more of these categories no matter what they are. The first is the fixed projection screen. This is the easiest type of screen to setup. All you have to do it mount it to the wall. But, that is also the major flaw with these types of screens because once it’s mounted it cannot be changed, unless you completely tear it down. The good side of having a fixed projection screen is that it is usually wrinkle free, which gives a nice, smooth surface. Another type is the tripod projector screen. This projector is usually the least favorite type of screen because it’s bulky and uses an unattractive metal tripod frame to hold the screen up. However, the tripod screen is also the least expensive out of all the other screen and they can also be folded and put away when not in use. The tripod screens are also usually in a standard 4:3 format which doesn’t make them ideal for home theaters. The last type of screen is the mounted retractable projector screen. These types of screen can be either wall mounted or ceiling mounted. They can either be manually rolled or controlled by an electric motor. The only real down side to these types of screens is the price. It is usually a lot more expensive than all the other types but they are often worth the money you pay for them.
