THX Develops New Standards for Projection Screens

THX is a leading developer of technologies and certification programs that help deliver the true vision of filmmakers, game developers and musicians, from their studios to audiences around the world. Recently they announced that they have developed a new testing technique to measure the effectiveness of gray projection screens. This new test is will guarantee that the certified projection screen will improve the contrast of the projected image. In recent experiments, THX engineers discovered that grey colored screen material can minimize the scattering of light in the room. This minimal scattering is what helps the screen improve black and white levels creating a sharper image. Stewart Filmscreen was the first company to be rewarded the THX certification for their GrayHawk RS G3 screen. The material used for the screen was specially designed for full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution images and video. The GrayHawk RS G3 screen is currently available in sizes up to 40 x 90 feet and can be purchased from Stewart Filmscreen representatives.
