The British Government has been spending a lot of time and money to upgrade classrooms with state-of-the-art interactive whiteboard systems. The British Government has spent more money than any other nation. The new systems include an interactive whiteboard and a computer linked to a data projector. The whiteboard uses touch screen technology and is able to display images, graphics, animation, and video. Some of the systems even come equipped with cameras to allow students to display written ideas and/or images. Recently the government was wondering if all their hard efforts have been paying off. According to a study, the whiteboard systems are showing great potential towards helping students and teachers in the classroom. The use of these systems in the schools has inspired the British government to also create a series 5 interactive CD-ROMs that are designed to stimulate conversation between students and teachers about current key issues. Old methods used to include using “best practice” models that the students had to relate to current events.
