Epson has recently announced the release of their latest addition to the MovieMate line up. The MovieMate 55 is going to be the predecessor to the older MovieMate 50 projector. The 55 model will have the same WVGA (854 x 480) resolution as the 50 model, but it will have a brighter 1200 ANSI lumens. The MovieMate 55 will also have the popular DVD player built into the projector, which will be able to play standard DVDs and CDs. Unfortunately if you want HD quality you will need to connect an external player to the MovieMate 55 projector. The 55 projector is able to display an image up to 150 inches, diagonally, from a projection distance of less than 15 feet. The MovieMate 55 also has a pair of 8 watt stereo speakers that uses Dolby 5.1 Digital DTS technology to project the best sound possible. The MovieMate 55 is already available for purchase on the Epson website and will retail for $699.
