Dell is trying to starting to talk about a new connection port that is rumored to be better than an HDMI port. DisplayPort is said to be the next generation of video display technology. Dell aims to use DisplayPort to replace VGA, DVI, and LVDS connections on the back of your PC. This new standard will consist of a single cord that connects from your PC to any video device that has a DisplayPort connection including monitors, TVs, or projectors. DisplayPort is able to support up to 2560 x 1600 resolution with a transmission speed of up to 10.8Gbps. The standard will also be compatible with existing HDMI connections, which means you can connect your PC to your computer via DisplayPort and then link your monitor to a TV or projector via HDMI input, and no signal would be lost. Dell is expected to release more products with the DisplayPort connection included. They are also getting support from over 178 other companies including Intel, HP, Lenovo, and VESA. Future additions to DisplayPort include the ability to daisy chain the monitors so that several monitors will be showing what one PC is dispalying.
