‘Fly Me to the Moon’ will be First Movie Solely in 3D

You may have seen the popular Journey to the Center of the Earth that debuted in RealD 3D. It was the first movie to be released worldwide with RealD 3D technology. Recently, director, Ben Stassen has announced the second movie to be released this summer in 3D. Fly Me to the Moon is about three house flies that sneak aboard the Apollo 11 flight to the moon. Unlike Journey to the Center of the Earth, This movie will be the first movie that will be released solely in 3D. In past 3D movies, studios would release 3D versions where available but also release a standard 2D version for other theaters to show. Stassen believes that the low cost of 3D projectors and the increased availability of 3D projectors allows him the opportunity to release his movie in 3D only. Director, James Cameron plans to follow in Stassen’s footsteps next year with his move Avatar. It’s only fitting that first solely 3D movie is based on the first step on the moon.
