Ecom, a leading provider of desktop geoscientific and GIS software, data management, and advanced technical consulting for the natural resources sector, has released their newest software Discover 3D Version 4.0. This software takes geological information and turns it into a 3D image that can be viewed in ways that Geological maps have never been seen before. Geologists are using this software and a projector to create a semi-immersive 3D visualization environment. This new technology is fully interactive and allows geologists to see obstacles and hazards that normal maps would not include. The system and software will allow geologists to see the land in a 3D environment that would be similar to how the CAVEman project displays a human body in 3D.
