Barco will be supplying the projectors this year for the 61st Locarno Film Festival, August 6-16th. The festival plays to over 190000 movie goers every year and this year will be no exception. This year the festival will be having over 100 digital screenings in 5 different venues. The most famous venue will be the Piazza Grande. The Grande will transform when the sun goes down, into a unique open-air cinema that contains a 26 meter (85 ft) screen and enough seating for 8000 guests. Barco will be using their best projector the Piazza Grande, the DP-3000. The DP-3000 produces a 2048 x 1080 resolution that is well over HD quality. Barco will also be bringing along several DP-2000 projectors for some of the smaller theaters. One of the Highlights at this year’s festival will include actor and producer Nanni Moretti.
