There is a new anti-theft solution that is growing in popularity in Japan. The Ioimage Intelligent Video Appliances record when someone breaks into a house and steals some electronics. The appliances transmit images of thief to a projector that displays the images on a screen mounted on the wall of the building. This will allow multiple people to see the theif, which gives the police more chances to identify the thief. It also allows police to track the path the thief took and see where they go. This project has been installed into two, fourteen storey buildings that house over 400 families each. Since the installement, no crimes have been reported in a neighborhood which used to experience at least one criminal act a month.
