Optoma Plans to Launch “World’s First” Pico Projector

It looks like the Pico Projector race will come to an end soon. Optoma has recently announced they are planning to have a limited release of their projector later this summer. The release will be only in Europe and parts of Asia, but Optoma expects to go global by the beginning of 2009. The Pico projector will use DLP display technology and will be able to display images much larger than the source’s devices. It will run on a Li-ion battery and will have a composite video connection. It will also be able to connect to a variety of mobile devices including cell phones, ipods, digital cameras, and camcorders. There is no word yet on pricing or the model name for this projector.
